Two key conservatives say a campaign to get “pro-family” voters to the polls will be launched within 10 days here in Iowa and other key states.

“We’re going to ring door bells.  We’re going to Facebook our friends. We’re going to Tweet people. We’re going to make phone calls,” says Ralph Reed, a former leader of the Christian Coalition who is heading up the new, national Faith and Family Coalition. “We’re going to do whatever we have to do and we are going to turn out the biggest conservative vote in a midterm election in American history.”

According to Reed, his group has identified over seven million American households that he labels “pro-family” — as the adults in the household hold both “pro-life” and “fiscally conservative” political views.  In Iowa, about a quarter of a million households are listed in the group’s “pro-family” database and Reed says the Faith and Family Coalition will spend $300,000 before Election Day contacting those potential voters in Iowa.

“We’re going to speak so loud and so clear that even the liberal who wouldn’t listen to anything over the last two years is going to hear our message and they will hear it so loud it will resonate from coast to coast and from sea to shining sea,” Reed says. “And we’re going to send them home where they belong.”

Reed spoke Saturday night to about 550 members of the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition who gathered in Des Moines for an annual fall banquet. Steve Scheffler of the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition says new “VoterTrak” technology will be used to target “right of center” voters.

“Our ‘Voter Guides’ have been a good product over the years,” says Scheffler, who is also one of Iowa’s representatives on the Republican National Committee, “but quite frankly they come late in the game after a lot of people have voted and it’s not very focused on a particular group of people that you need to get to the polls to elect like-minded candidates, so I think it’s a program that is actually going to make us very, very viable down the road.”

Faith and Family Coalition organizers say each of the “pro-family” voters they’ve identified will be contacted an average of seven times before Election Day.
