Human skeleton found in field near Fremont

October 4, 2010 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Authorities say a farmer in southeast Iowa made an unexpected discovery over the weekend.

The Mahaska County sheriff received a report of what appeared to be human skeletal remains found on a farm field near Fremont Saturday evening.

Due to the area and nature of circumstances where the remains were found, investigators do not suspect foul play.

The remains have been taken to the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s office in Ankeny where an autopsy will be performed. The case remains under investigation.
