Wartburg coach Rick Willis could reach a milestone on Saturday when the Knights visit Buena Vista in Iowa Conference play. A Wartburg victory would be the 100th in his career. Willis says part of that is longevity, but it is a testament to the place and the people who have been there. He says right now the game for this team this week is the most important thing.

Wartburg is unbeaten in the Iowa Conference race but Willis says they will have their hands full against the Beavers. Willis says they have struggled against them in recent years and it will be their homecoming and they are trying to bounce back from a loss. Willis says after losing two straight to Buena Vista there is no chance of his players getting caught looking ahead to next week’s matchup against Coe.

Willis says the team knows they haven’t played well against the Beavers and will be focused on playing well in this game before they look ahead to the next week. The Wartburg offense has displayed balance this season and Willis says they need more of it on Saturday. He says they have to be able to make some explosive plays and take care of the football.
