Storm Lake woman accused of injuring son with hot tortillas

A Storm Lake woman faces a felony charge after allegedly injuring her son with hot food. Police conducted an investigation and allege a six-year-old boy was injured when his mother placed hot tortillas on his mouth causing blistering.

The act was done reportedly as a form of punishment by the mother. The mother, identified as 27-year-old Dora Angelica Lucas Oxlaj of Storm Lake, was also found to be allegedly working at the McDonald’s in Storm Lake under the name of Gabriela Reyes.

Following an investigation police charged Lucas Oxlaj with child endangerment causing injury and identity theft. She was jailed on a ten-thousand dollar bond and is being held on a detainer by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
