The William Penn football team continues to climb the national rakings. The 6-0 Statesmen are ranked 12th this week, the highest ranking the program has ever achieved in NAIA. Penn coach Todd Hafner says the players are enjoying the ride and so are the coaches as they have never been in this situation before.

Hafner says he is especially happy for the seniors who have been a big part in the turn around of the program. He says they have dedicated the last three or four years to getting the program to where it is and it is nice to see them enjoy the fruits of their labor.

The biggest reason for their success is the ability to run the ball and stop the run. The Statesmen average 416 yards on the ground per game while giving up an average of only 75. Hafner says you have to be mentally and physically tough to be able to do what they want to do and he says if they can continue that, they will be successful.

Penn hosts St. Ambrose this weekend and Hafner says they will need another big effort to stay unbeaten. He says they are a very talented and tough football team and have one of the best players in the country on offense.
