Luther College football player recovering from broken neck

October 19, 2010 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Luther College football coach Mike Durnin says freshman Chris Norton is making progress after undergoing surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Norton suffered a fractured neck and a compressed spinal cord while covering a kickoff in a game against Central.

Durnin says Norton has some feeling in his hands and toes and the thoughts and prayers are with Norton and his family right now and they are hoping for the very best.

Durnin says the team members are getting updates from the family on Norton’s progress. He says many of the players have been communicating to Norton and his roommate has spent a lot of time there with him. Durnin says they have a lot of support for Norton and his family.
