The Iowa Hawkeyes host Wisconsin in a key Big Ten battle. The Hawkeyes are coming off a win at Michigan while Wisconsin beat top ranked Ohio State. These teams won’t play, again, until at least 2013 so the winner gets to keep the Heartland Trophy for a few years.
Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says the game is important regardless of whether they are playing for a trophy. He says the winner will hold the trophy a little longer this time, but he doesn’t think anyone will be thinking of that during the game.
A key matchup will be Wisconsin’s offensive line against Iowa’s defensive line. Ferentz says the two units are veteran and experienced and each has had a lot of success. He says it should be an interesting matchup for fans.
Ferentz says Wisconsin’s offensive line is impressive, as he says its’ “gigantic” compared to the size of his team. But he says the most important thing is that they are good and play well.
