The Iowa State Cyclones have another tough assignment as they visit 22nd ranked Texas. The Longhorns used an effective run game in a victory at Nebraska last week and Cyclone coach Paul Rhoads says the defense needs top be ready. Rhoads says the emphasis is running the football and they still do that while trying to stay balanced.

Rhoads says the Cyclones are not going into this game just hoping to make it competitive. He says they don’t go into any game that way, they go in to win and they feel if they go out and play well they will have the opportunity. Rhoads says against Texas the Cyclone offense must have more success on first down.

He says they put themselves in too many third and long situations against Oklahoma and they have to avoid that against the Longhorns.
