Electrolux Home Products is announcing the first phase of layoffs related to the closure of its laundry products plant in Webster City. Manufacturing at the Laundry Center products will cease by the end of December resulting in the termination of approximately 295 positions.

Production of the remaining product lines in Webster City is expected to cease by the end of the first quarter of 2011. The production at the company’s satellite plant in Jefferson is expected to cease this January. The closure schedule is consistent with the anticipated final production schedule communicated at the time the plant closure was announced in October, 2009.

The company is working with the State of Iowa Department of Workforce Development and Iowa Central Community College of Fort Dodge and Webster City to assist employees with transitional programs and training activity. In September, Electrolux announced that the company’s Fabric Care Technology Center will remain in Webster City. The center will employ a technical staff of more than 80.
