Farmer injured in Scott County combine fire dies

November 11, 2010 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A farmer in eastern Iowa’s Scott County has died after being badly burned in a combine fire. Sixty-one-year-old Loren Arp of rural Walcott died Tuesday at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

A 36-year physical therapist, Arp also farmed about 900 acres around Walcott and Maysville. He was seriously burned October 1st when a suspected dust buildup caused an explosion and fire in the combine he was operating. Arp’s neighbors gathered to finish harvesting his crops a couple of weeks after he was hurt. Arp leaves behind a wife and five grown children.
