The playoffs begin on Saturday for the Northwestern College football team. Ranked 15th in the latest NAIA poll the 7-2 Red Raiders close the regular season at Midland Lutheran and need a win to earn at at-large spot in the national playoffs.
Northwestern coach Kyle Achterhoff says the playoff chances drop to zero if they lose the game. Midland Lutheran is also in the playoff hunt. The Warriors are 8-2 and ranked 19th and he says they are excited to be in this position against a team in a similar spot.
Achterhoff expects a hard fought game as they have a defense the runs around and makes a ton of plays. He says they run the ball well and control the tempo of the game.
