Authorities in northern Iowa are still piecing together the details of a double-murder overnight. Two people, one in Algona, one in Humboldt, were shot and killed in alleged robbery attempts Monday night, a suspect was apprehended in the Webster City area and transferred to the Kossuth County Jail.

Kossuth County Attorney Todd Holmes, in a press release issued this morning, says the Algona incident took place at the Crossroads Cenex Station near U.S. Highway 18.

The Humboldt incident took place at a Kum and Go store on U.S. Highway 169. No identities of the victims or the suspects has been released yet, an investigation continues and charges are pending.

Update: Authorities says the suspect is a 17-year-old from the Twin Cities.  The victims are both women, ages 55 and 60.  Officials are expected to released more information later today.
