The 19th ranked Iowa women outscored Iowa State 36-19 in the second half as the Hawkeyes roared past the 15th ranked Cyclones 62-40 in Iowa City. Iowa coach Lisa Bluder says their defense really frustrated the Cyclones. The Hawkeyes also dominated the glass.

Bluder says they outrebounded Iowa State 40-27, even though the Cyclones have more size. She says they did a great job of crashing the boards and blocking out. The Hawkeyes improved to 9-1 on the season. Bluder says it’s “a signature win” because I.S.U. is ranked 15th.

The Cyclones shot only 32 percent for the game and made only two of nine from three point range. Coach Bill Fennelly says he was very disappointed in a lot of things that happened and he says especially with the play inside, as he said they “played awful.” He says the Cyclones could not get anything going at the offensive end.

Morgan Johnson led Iowa with 16 points and added ten rebounds as Iowa dominated the paint, and Fenelly says his post players couldn’t do anything inside. Fenelly says he will have to make some changes. Iowa State falls to 6-2.
