Iowa State survives cold shooting night to get win

December 13, 2010 By Todd Kimm

Iowa State survived cold shooting to down Texas Southern. The Cyclones shot only 37 percent and made only 7 of 28 from three point range but managed to pull away in the second half for for a 65-54 win.

Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg says bouncing back after a short turnaround is good as you can sometimes have a let down after a big game. Hoiberg says they had some tired legs, but he felt with a week off coming up he could keep the starters in.

The game was close in the opening half but the Cyclones finished strong to take a 32-24 lead at the break. He says it was important to close the half with momentum and then they came out and had good momentum in the second half.

The Cyclones improve to 9-2.
