Governor-elect pleased with Republican budget proposals

January 3, 2011 By Dar Danielson

Governor-elect Terry Branstad said today he is pleased that fellow Republicans who control the Iowa House are “seriously looking at changing the way we do business” with their budget cutting proposals.

Branstad says his administration will want to review and analyze all of their proposals “but I think they are being very aggressive in looking at, can we find a different way to do things, can we reduce the size and cost of government. We certainly share their interest and philosophy in doing that.”

Branstad says any cost savings the legislature can make this fiscal year will help achieve balanced budgets in the coming years.
