Hawks take on second ranked OSU

January 4, 2011 By Todd Kimm

The Iowa Hawkeyes host second ranked Ohio State and one of the nation’s top players when the teams meet in Carver-Hawkeye this evening. Six-nine freshman Jared Sullinger averages more than 17 points and ten rebounds for the unbeaten Buckeyes.

Iowa coach Fran McCaffery says Sullinger is one of the best freshmen he has seen in his coaching career. The Buckeyes have four starters averaging more than 12 points per game. McCaffrey says things though still revolve around Sullinger as he is hard to guard and creates problems.

McCaffery says the Buckeyes are a talented team that plays the game the right way. He says despite having a lot of seniors and talented players, they still share the ball and limelight.

The Hawkeyes are 7-6 overall. Ohio State is 14-0.
