One day after a deadly school shooting at a high school in Omaha, a 17-year old Des Moines Hoover High School student was arrested with a loaded handgun in his jacket. Des Moines police says the school resource officer was called by Hoover school officials just before noon  to assist them with a student, and the student ran when officers attempted to speak to him. 

Police say officers approached Kimbron Paige and he removed his coat and tossed it into a locker belonging to another student before being escorted to the office. School officials got the coat where they found a loaded .380 automatic handgun.

Paige was taken to the Polk County Courthouse on a charge of “possession of a firearm on school grounds.

Omaha police say a 17-year-old student entered Millard South High School Wednesday and shot  the assistant principal and principal.  The gunman, 17-year-old Robert Butler Jr., was found dead in his car from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The assistant principal died from her wounds.
