Snow prompts winter weather advisory

January 11, 2011 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A Winter Weather Advisory is still in effect for much of Iowa today after snow dumped on much of the state yesterday into this morning. Miles Schumacher, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, says central Iowa got a good coating of snow.

Schumacher says isolated parts of western Iowa got a foot or more of snow, but most areas have less.

Schumacher says Iowa’s weather will slowly improve in the next few days until some more light snow in the forecast by Friday. One concern is wind chills, which may reach 20-below zero tonight.
