A Waterloo doctor is presumed dead after his plane crashed in Colorado on Sunday. Colorado authorities located an airplane that was registered to a Waterloo doctor on Monday, one day after it disappeared in a snow storm.

Both the pilot and the passenger were found dead amongst the wreckage. They have been tentatively identified as 66-year-old Dr. Michael Welton and Roswitha Marold. Doctor Welton was a urologist and Marold had operated the Victoria Room in downtown Waterloo for over 25 years, before retiring three years ago.

The aircraft was discovered about a mile east of Blueberry Peak in the Sangre de Cristo mountain range in southern Colorado, about 50 miles from its intended destination of Pueblo. It had left Sunday from Deer Valley Airport in Phoenix, Arizona. Positive identification of the two bodies is expected sometime today.
