A 90-year-old man who was reported missing in the eastern Iowa town of Blue Grass was found dead this morning outside a school. Blue Grass Police Chief John Jensen says Robert Poppe was reported missing Wednesday night by his son.
Poppe had been at Blue Grass Elementary School to pick up some food items at a fundraiser and failed to return home. His body was found by a school employee about 8:15 this morning behind the building near his parked car. Jensen says it has not been determined whether Poppe was disoriented or suffered a medical problem, but an autopsy is pending.
The temperature was below zero Wednesday night in Blue Grass, which is located just west of Davenport.
