Des Moines men face numerous theft charges

January 13, 2011 By Matt Kelley

Justin Luncsford

A Des Moines man is behind bars for the second time this week on theft charges. Police received several reports Sunday of snowblowers that were stolen from garages or sheds in a north-side Des Moines neighborhood.

Two men, 30-year-old Justin Luncsford and 34-year-old Jason Lathrop, were arrested later in the day for going door-to-door trying to sell the stolen snowblowers. Luncsford was arrested again Wednesday night.

Police say he stole an SUV from a bar parking lot. The owner of the vehicle had left it running to warm it up and went back in the bar. Officers located the vehicle several hours later. It was being driven by Luncsford. He was taken to jail on charges of second-degree theft, possession of burglary tools and driving on a suspended license.
