Iowa State comes close, but falls to Kansas

January 13, 2011 By Todd Kimm

Marcus Morris poured in 33 points as third ranked Kansas held off the Iowa State Cyclones 84-79 in Hilton Colesium. The Cyclones never led but did manage to get within one in the second half. Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg says he can’t fault the effort, they just needed to make some plays and you almost have to play a perfect game against a team like Kansas.

Hoiberg says they played their tails off, but he says they are not into moral victories and need to find a way to win these games. He says they had several chances to get the lead, but couldn’t do it.

The Cyclones fall to 0-2 in the Big 12 and 13-4 overall.
