Drake hosts Illinois State with sense of urgency for a win

January 18, 2011 By Todd Kimm

Two teams desperate for a win meet in Des Moines, tonight, as Drake hosts Illinois State in Missouri Valley Conference play. The Bulldogs have dropped five of their last six and stand 2-5 in the Valley while Illinois State is 0-7 in conference play.

Drake coach Mark Phelps who says while the Redbirds have struggled on offense they do have some weapons on their roster that create matchup problems. He says the Redbirds are not shooting well from three-point range, even though they have some good shooters. He says both teams have a sense of urgency to get a win, so it should be an intense game.

Illinois State coach Tim Jankovich says like his team the Bulldogs are young. He says they have good size and guys that will develop into a heck of a team.
