A northwest Iowa woman has died in a weather-related crash near Rock Valley. The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that just before 10 A.M. on Monday, 64-year-old Neva Garrett of Rock Valley was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt westbound on Highway 18, four miles east of Rock Valley.

Fifty-four-year-old Timothy Van Meeteren of Sioux Center was driving a 2009 Ford Van eastbound on Highway 18. The report says that the roadway was partially ice-covered at the time. Garrett lost control of her Chevy, and it entered the eastbound lane in the path of Van Meeteren, causing a collision.

Garrett was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Van Meeteren was injured and was also transported to a hospital. The accident remains under investigation.
