The state of Iowa is fining a Davenport nursing home in connection with the death of one of its residents. Ninety-seven-year-old Corine Armentrout, a resident of Ridgecrest Village, was hurt last November 9th in a traffic accident. She died 12 days later.

Armentrout and another Ridgecrest resident were passengers in a Ridgecrest van when it stopping suddenly, throwing both passengers out of their wheelchairs onto the van’s floor. The van driver told police the chairs were securely fastened in place but he had failed to buckle the residents into them.

The Iowa Department of Inspection and Appeals says Armentrout’s death was attributed to congestive heart failure as a result of a broken leg and blood loss. The nursing home is being fined $10,000.
