A South Dakota man is dead after a construction accident in northwest Iowa Friday.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 1:30 on Friday afternoon it received a call about a construction accident which occurred in a field near the Landsmeer Retirement Community, just north of Orange City.

Forty-six-year-old Andrew Lambert, of McCook Lake, South Dakota, was drilling test holes in the ground for Certified Testing Services, Incorporated of Sioux City. The sheriff’s report says Lambert had become trapped in the auger of the drilling equipment and was killed. A second employee of Certified Testing Services was working with Lambert at the time and found him shortly after the incident happened.

Lambert was pronounced dead at the scene by the Sioux County Medical Examiner.
