Two members of the Luther College football coaching staff will be cheering for different teams on Sunday when the PIttsburgh Steelers play the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XLV in Dallas. Benny Boyd is Luther’s co-defensive coordinator and he spent four weeks with the Steelers at their training camp last summer as part of a minority coaching fellowship program.

Boyd says it is a special organization because of the people. He says everything was first class when he was there and you can learn things just by being around the organization.

Boyd says the first thing he noticed was the attitude of the organization. He says the Steelers’ coach Mike Tomlin talked about a standard of excellence and if you are not up to par, then you are not going to be there. He says their number one goal is to win and they are all up front about that being the standard.

Wide receivers coach Brian Eayrs will be in Cowboys Stadium for the game. His father, Mike, workers for the Packers as the director of research and development and helps develop the game plan.

Eayrs says both are first class organizations and he is looking forward to the game. He says they both will probably have the same game plan, do all the talking on the field and play good football. Eayrs says he would like to see Green Bay open it up into a shootout type of game.
