A Newton man is accused of putting a camera in the women’s bathroom at a Des Moines supermarket. Des Moines police says the director of a Dahl’s store called after finding a mini-web cam in the women’s restroom.
The director said the camera appeared to be on and was near a light fixture above one of the stalls in the restroom. Police detectives were able to identify 44-year-old Michael Dean Safris as the person responsible for installing the camera. Safris was arrested and charged with invasion of privacy.
Police have not said if there were any recordings recovered or what led them to Safris. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
