Iowa women rally but fall short

February 7, 2011 By Todd Kimm

The Iowa Hawkeye women tried to rally in the second half against Big Ten leader Penn State but came up short in an 82-75 loss to the Nittany Lions. Alex Bentley led Penn State with 25 points.

Iowa coach Lisa Bluder says they battled hard and came back but had to far to come back in the second half after getting down early. Bluder says rebounding was a big factor in the outcome. They gave up 18 offensive rebounds and Penn State had 16 second chance points as they didn’t box out well.

Jamie Printy led Iowa with 20 points, Kachine Alexander scored 12 and added 17 rebounds as the Hawks fall to 5-6 in the Big Ten and 17-7 overall.
