One person was killed and five others injured in a traffic accident on a slick road in west-central Iowa Sunday. The crash happened two miles west of Scranton on Highway 30 just before 4 p.m. Investigators say a van driven by 76-year-old Raymond Sorenson of Jefferson was eastbound when it slid sideways into the westbound lane.

The van was struck by an oncoming car. Sorenson was killed in the crash. Five others, including a two-year-old child and a three-year-old child, were taken to Greene County Medical Center. Their conditions are not available. Investigators say, at the time of the crash, Highway 30 was covered with ice and snow because of snow blowing across the roadway.
