American Cancer Society taking orders for “Daffodil Days”

February 15, 2011 By Dar Danielson

The American Cancer Society is now taking orders for Daffodils in its annual fundraiser. Central Iowa chapter spokesman, Chuck Reed, says “Daffodil Days” has been an American Cancer Society tradition for many years.

Reed says it is the second largest fundraiser for the organization behind the “Relay for Life,” and you can order daffodils through this Friday (February 18th). Reed says there are a lot of ways to use the flowers. He says you can make a donation and have the daffodils delivered to a cancer patient or you can give them to someone special.

Reed says there are several options for ordering the flowers, and it helps a worthy cause. Reed says the sale of the flowers raised over $800,000 last year, and it is something he looks forward to because it means spring is coming and the cold weather will soon be behind us. Reed says you can call your local chapter to order the daffodils or you can call 1-800-227-2345 from anywhere in the state.

You can also go on-line at: www.cancer.org to order for delivery. He says local chapters will be selling daffodils on site from March 7th through the 11th.
