Ames woman dies in accident

February 18, 2011 By Matt Kelley

A 39-year-old Ames woman was killed and two people were hurt in a two-vehicle accident late Thursday afternoon near Ames. The Iowa State Patrol identified the victim as Amy Lynn Rogers.

Rogers was a passenger in a 2010 Ford F-350 pickup driven by 42-year-old Jeffrey Clendenen also of Ames. Reportedly the Clendenen truck was traveling northbound on 500th Street when he apparently ran a stop sign and was struck by a westbound 2003 Ford F-350 pickup driven by 62-year-old Richard K. Diltz of Madrid.

Rogers was pronounced dead at the scene. Both drivers were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment of injuries. Diltz was taken by life flight to a Des Moines hospital while Clendenen was transported to an Ames hospital for treatment.
