Dustin Clark posted a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds as Guthrie Center sidelined fourth ranked Iowa Mennonite 53-49 in a 1A quarterfinal. Clark said their goal was to hold them in the 40’s and they knew if they did that, they would have a chance to win. He says they pride themselves on defense and played it well today.

Clark dominated the paint and Guthrie Center owned a 26-18 rebound advantage. Clark says he felt they were more physical down low and able to take advantage of that.

Iowa Mennonite tried to rally from an 11 point fourth quarter deficit and had a chance to tie the game in the waning seconds after a steal but a three pointer by Ethan Gingerich was off the mark.

Coach Dwight Gingerich says they probably didn’t play with the effort they needed to soon enough in the ballgame, but he says they fought back and had a shot at tying it. IMS closes the season with a record of 24-2. Bradon Clark led the way with 22 points as Guthrie Center improves to 20-7.
