Authorities in southwest Iowa are investigating a fatal shooting late last night. Officials say 44-year-old Robert C. Chapin, of Omaha, was shot and killed by 33-year-old Christopher L. Hyde, of Council Bluffs.
Officers were called to 4501 Apache Street in Council Bluffs at around 11:25 PM following a report of a disturbance. When they arrived, Chapin was found dead in the kitchen of the residence, the victim of an apparent gun shot wound to the head. A semi-automatic 40-caliber pistol was recovered at the scene. Hyde was taken into custody, questioned and later booked into the Pottawattamie County Jail, on a charge of first-degree murder.
