Spring-like weather expected this week

March 14, 2011 By Matt Kelley

Some spring-like weather is in the forecast, just in time for many Iowans’ spring break week.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Frank Boksa says temperatures will be slightly above normal for mid-March. “Temperatures are going to be on the rise this week,” Boksa said. “We should be fairly cool today, but warming up into the mid-to-lower 60s by Thursday.”

There’s also a chance for some rain tomorrow, mainly over northern Iowa. A bigger system is expected in the state Wednesday night. “We may even see some isolated thunderstorms with that system, as we warm up and become a little more unstable,” Boksa said.

Another round of rain is possible Saturday night.
