A single-car crash in Davenport last night has taken a life. It happened a little after 10 at an intersection in the north-central part of town. Davenport police say witnesses say the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it approached an intersection.
The driver attempted to change from the inside lane to the outside lane while passing a vehicle but lost control. The car went over a curb and hit two light poles, one of each side of the intersection. The driver, who was the only one in the car, died at the scene.
He has been identified as 24-year-old Justin Michael Welch of Davenport.
