Cause not known in death of child in Cedar Falls

April 6, 2011 By Radio Iowa Contributor

There’s still no word on how a two-year-old boy died after being found in a Cedar Falls motel. Police were called to Midway Studios at 4117 University Avenue a little after 8:00 Monday night on a report of an unresponsive child.

The boy was transported to Sartori Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities say a member of the boy’s family was the one who called police. Cedar Falls Police Chief Jeff Olson says that police are not yet ready to classify the death as suspicious, but they are describing it as “unexplained.”

An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
