Eagle Grove man found guilty in hatchet murder case

April 8, 2011 By Radio Iowa Contributor

The north-central Iowa man accused of killing a fishing buddy with a hatchet will spend the rest of his life in prison. It took a Bremer County jury one hour to decide the fate of 21-year-old Lucas Faulkner of Eagle Grove.

The jury found Faulkner guilty of first degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Devin Resh of Webster City on May 18th, 2010, while on a fishing trip near Eagle Grove. The verdict was reached late Thursday afternoon after four days of jury selection and testimony.

The sentencing date for Faulkner has not been set. He is expected to face life in prison.
