A man who authorities say escaped from a Fayette County correctional facility in northeast Iowa is back in custody. Black Hawk County sheriff’s deputies arrested 24-year-old Shaine Boeckmann on an escape from custody warrant Wednesday afternoon at a house in Washburn, south of Waterloo.

Sheriff’s officials say they caught Boeckmann after receiving a tip that he was walking along a highway north of La Porte City. Authorities converged on the area and learned that Boeckmann got into a vehicle that was going to a house in Washburn. Officials set up surveillance on the home and waited for Boeckmann to leave, then arrested him without incident.

He’s being held in the Black Hawk County jail. Authorities say Boeckmann was held at the West Union Residential Facility when he escaped. The original charges against him were trafficking in stolen weapons, forgery, and furnishing intoxicant to inmates.
