Two-Time major winner John Daly will play in the PGA’s John Deere Classic near the Quad Cities in July. It was back in 1991 that Daly shocked the golfing world by coming out of nowhere to win the PGA Championship.

Tournament director Clair Peterson says Daly won the British Open shorting after that, and he says Daly remains a big draw despite not having won a tournament since back in 2004. Peterson says there’s a segment of the population that is always rooting for Daly as some people seem to relate to his “every man persona.”

It will be the first time Daly has played in the Deere Classic since 2007 and Peterson says he will also take part in a couple of events prior to the start of the tournament. Peterson says he’ll play in the Monday Pro-Am and the Wednesday Pro-Am.

The John Deere Classic is July 7th through the 10th.
