A man was jailed in eastern Iowa last night for making a terrorist threat. Iowa County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Amana Refrigeration Appliances factory in Middle Amana. The call was in response to reports by factory employees that a man was making terrorist threats by stating he intended to “blow up Amana” because his friend and brother Osama bin Laden was killed.

The man was taken into custody without incident. Forty-one-year-old Boubker Lamkadmi, who recently moved to Marengo, told officers he was only kidding and misunderstood.

He has been charged with making a threat of terrorism, a class D felony, punishable by up to five years in prison. It was determined that Lamkadmi never possessed any weapons or explosive devices, but the situation placed many of the employees in fear for their safety.
