Are you ready for some football? The newly formed Midwest Football Alliance will kick off its inaugural season on Saturday. John Elkin serves on the board of the M.F.A. He also plays with one of the teams, the Midwest Rampage based in Webster City. Six of the teams are from Iowa, one is from Nebraska and one is from South Dakota.

The Iowa teams are located in Des Moines, the Quad Cities, Dubuque, Sutherland,Ottumwa and Webster City. He says they had to reject a couple of teams that wanted in, because they had to prove they were a stable organization. Elkin says they will look to expand the league next year.

Elkin says the season runs through July 30th with a 3 round playoff system. Six of the 8 teams will make the playoffs, with the top two teams getting a bye.

The games tomorrow include the Midwest Rampage of Webster City facing the Capitol City Crush of Lincoln in Webster City and the Midwest Blaze facing the Des Moines Titans at Valley Stadium. There is more information on the new football league at www.midwestfootballalliance.com.
