Authorities in southwest Iowa are investigating the death of two Page County residents as a possible murder-suicide. Officials say the Clarinda Dispatch Center received a 911 call at around 7:40 P.M. Wednesday from 68-year-old Frank Harley McCoy of Shambaugh.

During the call, McCoy indicated that he had killed his wife and was going to kill himself. When officers arrived on the scene, they tried numerous times to contact the occupants of home, but were unsuccessful. After a tactical team made entry into the home, they discovered the bodies of Frank McCoy, and his 68-year-old wife, Karen.

The cause of their deaths was not released. Autopsies on the couple were scheduled for today at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny. The incident remains under investigation.
