Pitching has been the key all season for the Coe College baseball team and they received a gem in the Iowa Conference Tournament championship game. Sean Raisch pitched eight scoreless innings and yielded only three hits as Coe edged Wartburg 2-1 in Cedar Rapids.

Coe Coach Steve Cook says pitching was the question mark coming into the year as they were younger and unproven. He says all the starters threw the ball well and Raisch was very good. Reliever Tyler Hixon shut down a Wartburg rally in the ninth as Coe won the league tournament for the first time.

Cook says they always seem to keep it interesting with the late inning dramatics, but he says Hixon has done a great job in pressure situations, even though he is a freshman.

Coe improves to 32-10 and will find out later today where it is headed for the NCAA Division three regional. Cook says it has been one ow his easiest groups to coach and they seem to bond together during and after they got back from their early trip to Florida.
