Trump may cancel June 10th appearance in Iowa

May 16, 2011 By O. Kay Henderson

Donald Trump, the real estate developer who stars in his own reality television show, announced today that he will not run for president. And Trump may cancel his much-touted trip to Iowa in June.

Trump had been scheduled to speak at a June 10 fundraiser for the Republican Party of Iowa. A spokesman for the party now says Trump is “reassessing his commitment” to that appearance.

Trump visited New Hampshire a couple of times as he toyed with the idea of running for president, but Trump never set foot in Iowa. He sent an aide here in early March. Then, on March 23, the Iowa G.O.P.’s chairman announced Trump would “headline” the party’s annual Lincoln Dinner, and it would be Trump’s “first visit” to the state.

According to a spokesman for the Iowa G.O.P., Trump’s decision on the June 10th event will be announced tomorrow.
