A former county attorney in south-central Iowa is facing drug possession charges after being pulled over by an undercover officer earlier this month. Carlisle police say 44-year-old Bryan Tingle was charged Monday by the Iowa Attorney General with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The case was turned over to the attorney general’s office for prosecution because Tingle spent three years as the Warren County Attorney. He lost his re-election bid last November.

The Iowa Attorney General’s office confirms Tingle was pulled over on May 4 while driving on Highway 65. An undercover officer saw Tingle smoking from a glass pipe while driving and found a quarter gram of meth in the vehicle.

On Monday, Tingle’s attorney requested a plea of guilty, but the Iowa Attorney General’s office denied the request. Tingle was booked at the Warren County Jail and released.
