Iowa Speedway ready for racing

May 17, 2011 By Todd Kimm

Race week is finally here for the Iowa Speedway in Newton which will host the first of two NASCAR Nationwide Series events this weekend. Track president Jerry Jauron says tickets for Sunday’s race are almost gone. Jauron says they are almost sold out and then they will sell the standing room only ticket. Those tickets are half the cost of a regular ticket.

Jauron says they are ready for the season to begin as he says in the winter they don’t go into hibernation.

Jauron says this week will be about the final details to get ready. He says they have to paint a few things, mow the grass, put down the stencils for the sponsors, and do a final cleaning of everything.

This will be the first time Iowa Speedway hosts two Natiowide events. The series will return in August. Jauron says they are well positioned now for continued growth. He says not many people would have thought they would have this much success this fast.

The green flag will drop on Saturday for the NASCAR [email protected] Pro Series East/West Challenge.
