A Grinnell resident was killed and two others were injured Tuesday afternoon when their car was hit by a grain truck. The Iowa State Patrol reports the crash happened around 1:20 p.m. when a car driven by 77-year-old Marilyn Joyce Anderson of Grinnell exited Interstate 80 eastbound at Grinnell.

The car stopped and then turned north toward town. A southbound semi-truck driven by 39-year-old Kerry Naylor of Marshalltown hit the car broadside. The car spun around and came to rest in the median. The truck went out of control and came to a rest on its side in the median, spilling its load of corn.

Anderson died in the crash, while two passengers, 78-year-old Rosemary Schrack and 80-year-old Barbara Jean Hansson, were injured and taken to Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Naylor was not hurt. The accident remains under investigation.
