Marshalltown drowning victim recovered from Iowa River

June 8, 2011 By Matt Kelley

Authorities have recovered the body of an apparent drowning victim in Marshalltown. The body was discovered in the Iowa River by some passers-by Tuesday around 7 p.m. Firefighters pulled the body from the water and later identified the victim as 27-year-old Dawt Cung Nung of Marshalltown.

Family members say he disappeared while swimming in the river on Sunday. The body was to be taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the exact cause of death.
