The Quad Cities River Bandits host the 2011 Midwest League All Star game on Tuesday night in Modern Woodmen Park. General manager Kirk Goodman says they hope to put on a good show for the fans and the players as they’ve had a couple of years to get ready and to come up with some good ideas.

Two days worth of activites are already underway in Davenport with a Fanfest that has games and activities for kids. The Home Run Derby is tonight and he says it is more of a hitting derby for players to hit targets and earn points.

Goodman says the Midwest League All Star game is a showcase for the future stars of the game. He says there are only two leagues in the country, so half of all the players come through this level to start their career, and many of them make it to the majors.

Goodman says this event is a way for the club to showcase the city and the stadium. He says they do it for the fans and they want it to be memorable for the fans who support the team every week. Goodman says they are also showing off for the other teams and their owners.

The game begins at 7:00 on Tuesday.
